Passengers on Emirates Airlines to several destinations were shocked to find that their baggage had been left behind due to a technical glitch in the luggage handling system at the Dubai International Airport, Concourse A.
Khaleej Times has learnt when passengers arrived at their respective destinations, they were requested to fill lost baggage forms.
Some travellers on board Emirates flight EK029 to London told KT that they did not receive their luggage on the day of arrival. “Our luggage arrived a few days later,” said one of the travellers on condition of anonymity. “We were contacted by the Emirates staff yesterday to go to London’s Heathrow Airport to collect our baggage.”
It is worth noting that Emirates Airlines provides many options to travellers if they file a formal written complaint.
A statement issued by Emirates Airline said: “On Thursday, February 27, a portion of Concourse A was cordoned off due to water leakage. The baggage handling system was also affected by technical problems. As a result, some luggage could not be transported on-board our aircraft. Emirates apologises for any inconvenience caused to its customers. We are doing our utmost to address issue.”
Emirates Airline used the baggage handling system in Concourse B and deployed extra staff on the ground to assist its customers, added the statement.
