Summer camp off to a negative start
HASANND Durgadas, a student’s parent, has complained that Talent Zone Institute has published two weeks ago an advertisement in the newspaper about a summer camp announcing launch of a talent competition. He registered his two children for the camp paying Dh350 fees for each. He claimed that he kept asking the camp organisers when the camp will start.
“The reply was always the same, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow”. Finally the camp administration decided to hold the camp on July 1st and notified him to wait for the bus with his children. The parent complained that he was waiting with his children for the bus yesterday from 7:30 am till 10:30 am under the sun and humidity, “but no bus showed up”.
The father added that when he called the camp they told him that the programme had already started and they will send the bus tomorrow (today July 2) to carry his children.

RANY John, the Camp Coordinator told Khaleej Times when contacted that if the mistake and delay are repeated then we can complain “but it is not fair to judge the camp administration for one day's delay.”
He added that the children were not picked up due to a mistake and it was not intentional. “It was not done on purpose,” he assured offering to return back the registration fees of the two children if the parent so wishes.
Power shortage in Sharjah
AYAZ, Isam and Hussain complained separately to the Khaleej Times Hotline about the frequent electricity disconnections for more than two hours in their areas including Sharjah Airport area, Rolla, Al Zahra street and industrial area no 10.

AN OFFICIAL from Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) said that the frequent electricity disconnection was not due to lack of power reservation or stock as the electricity generation plant in Sharjah alone produces more than 2000 megawatts per day and the maximum consumption of electricity never exceeds 1,500 megawatts per day during the peak summer time. Hence the reserve of Electricity per day is very big.
He attributed the frequent power failure in the emirate to the pressure of consumption during summer, which cause damages, and technical problem in the main power energy plant. The engineers at the emergency section during summer are always prepared to respond to any emergency in any part of the emirate.
