One of the things that many (many!) employees in Dubai often forget is how to dress according to their work. There's the overdressed crowd who sport a suit and blazer every weekday and then there are employees that are beyond borderline casual, who sport their printed t-shirts while sipping away their cappuccino.

But come on! We all live in a fashion-forward emirate and this is happening? Here are some tricks that will get you sporting those #OOTDs the next time you head to work.

Thou shall keep a minimal wardrobe

How many days do you work? The open secret of most Dubai employees to look good is they keep a minimal set of clothes that can be mixed and matched together. Save yourself some closet space and some precious dirhams by keeping a versatile wardrobe. And DON'T buy that neon coloured jacket you'll only probably wear once or twice.

Thou shall make efforts to look good

Okay, okay we know you're still sleepy to even be picky with clothes but hey, a little effort into choosing what to wear goes a long way. You're colleagues will also thank you for not showing up in a band t-shirt... again.

Thou shall NEVER wear a suit every time

Don't be too uptight and wear a suit all the time. We're not in the 50s or 60s anymore where everyone is supposed to look like Wall Street brokers. Mix it up - have casual fuse with formal. But don't go overboard, see commandment #1.

Thou shall dress according to company culture

It'll probably occur to you two-three days after you start but if everybody is dressing in smart casual which means shirts and blazers, you don't need to show up in a suit and tie the next day.

Thou shall know what every article of clothing does

If you're going to wear yoga pants, please use them for yoga and not just as a pair of leggings for work.

Thou shall embrace thyself's uniqueness

Steve Jobs has a signature look, Mark Zuckerberg has a signature look. What's yours?

Thou shall loosen up

At the end of the day, it's still all about you and what clothes reflect you as a person. Have fun out there, but remember to take out of the six commandments above.
