Okay it’s not exactly classified, but Ajman is an emirate worth visiting and The Ajman Palace is the jewel in the crown
As the mercury in thermometers begins to steadily rise in the UAE the desire to escape also increases. It’s getting warmer by the hour in the city, which leaves us hankering for the beach on an almost minute-by-minute basis. There’s nothing nicer than heading to a place with a bit of a breeze, wide-open spaces and just a more sedate pace of life. Therefore with its proximity to Dubai the emirate of Ajman is perfect and The Ajman Palace is the perfect property within that perfect town.
Set right on the beach at the top of the popular main Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Street, the vast uninterrupted coastline whips up a delightful cool wind that makes any visit worth the 40 minute or so drive. And that’s before you’ve even set foot inside the palatial property. The overwhelming impression upon entering is the hotel is size. A huge lobby overlooking the infinity pool and private beach takes you through to one of the four distinct dining options.
Encore Bistro, with both indoor seating and an al fresco sea-view terrace, is an all-day international restaurant focussing on Mediterranean dishes. Or there’s Dragon’s Place where you can enjoy Asian fusion dishes with an emphasis on Japanese and Thai cuisine. The restaurant features a sushi bar, a private Teppanyaki dining table and two private washitsu rooms with low floor seating. Along with the Japanese version of sushi, the eatery offers ‘Arabic Sushi’ infused with Middle Eastern flavours. Diners can eat outdoors on the sunset terrace and it also offers a private terrace with romantic views of the Arabian Gulf for a special occasion. Then there’s the Nojoom Lounge, a quaint rooftop shisha and snack bar and the H20 Lounge by the pool.
Given Encore and Dragon’s Place is where you would go for a full-on meal, that’s where we went. Breakfast at Encore was superb with all favourite cooked items done well, particularly the omelettes made to order. When it came to dinner at Dragon’s, the sushi bar is definitely the winner with all types you’d desire and enough variety to entice even the most conservative diner.
Possibly the best aspect of dining at The Ajman Palace is constant offers on the rooms mean, if you don’t fancy the drive home, you don’t necessarily have to leave. Each of the establishment’s well-appointed suites will make you wish you never had to go home again.
