Thirty rotten pickle cans seized from food joint

The pickle cans were seized during a routine inspection drive organised by the Public Health and Environment Protection Section (PHEPS) of the RAK Municipality.

The inspectors found that the cans containing the rotten pickles carried no valid production and expiry badges, violating the emirate's public health rules. The confiscated materials also included equipment used to make pickles.

The authorities ordered that the food joint should be temporarily closed, the containers must be destroyed and an investigation be initiated before taking any legal action against the restaurant. Khaleej Times has also learnt that the authorities have intensified their inspection campaigns during summer to ensure that all food outlets strictly adhere to public health rules.
