The two hour-event will have over 5000 people form the shape of a giant human heart symbolising Shaikh Zayed's great love for people of all nations. The event is also aimed to raise funds for the RCA in order to support the local and external programmes of Emirates World Heart Group and disseminate awareness of heart diseases.

The unique 'Heart of the Nation' celebration is being organised by The Higher Colleges of Technology in cooperation with the UAE Red Crescent Authority and Emirates World Heart Group and under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of RCA.

"The event aims to instill the values of love and giving, following the exemplary model set by the President, encourage volunteer charity work and help heart patients," said Dr Sulaiman Moosa Al Jassim, Chairman of the Organising Committee and Director of Community Relations and Manpower Development at the HCT at a Press conference held yesterday at the HCT Central Services.

He added that the Human Heart follows the huge success of the largest human flag organised by HCT in January this year at the same place. The participation is open for all and there is a fee of Dhs10. Every participant will receive a T-shirt, a hat and a chance to win valuable prizes.

Dr Adel Al Shamry, Chairman of Emirates World Heart Group said that free check-ups will also be conducted on the sidelines of the event and the Association will perform free heart surgeries for needy heart patients on December 8. The appropriate medical centres where the surgeries will be conducted will be announced at a later date, said the organisers, but in the meantime those interested can contact on 050-3242900 for enquiries.

Mohammed Nasser Al Otaiba, Deputy Manager, Volunteers Department at the RCA was also present during the Press conference.
