The opening session of the seminar will be held at the Khaleej Times Building, with Alexander Downie, Government Minister for Trade and Industry, Isle of Man attending as the guest of honour.
A government delegation from the Government of Isle of Man also will participate in the seminar, in addition to top government officials and managing directors of leading companies.
The opening session will be followed by a dinner to be hosted by the Prime Minister’s Office of the Government of Isle of Man, at a prominent hotel in the city. The concluding session of the seminar will take place at Hotel Crown Plaza.
The participants include Roly Alden, Managing Director of Bank of Ireland, who will address the forum at the Khaleej Times building on the opening day.
Other dignitaries include Graham Sheward, Managing Director, Zurich Bank, John Sheath, CEO Bradford and Bingley Bank, Stuart Craine, Director General, E-Government, Isle of Man, Dr Hussain Hamid Hassan, Chairman, Shariah Board, Dubai Islamic Bank, Dr Mansoor Malik, International Lawyer, Manx Telecom (BT), David Burge, CEO, Caledonian Trust, and other top banking, finance and eCommerce business leaders, representing British and European banks, financial institutions, and businesses. Javed Malik, consultant for the KTIF will moderate the seminar.
The forum was inaugurated earlier this year by Cherie Blair, wife of the British Prime Minister, who delivered a lecture during the event.
"The main concept behind the Khaleej Times International Forum is to act as a platform where ideas can be shared, discussions can be held and views can be exchanged on a variety of international and regional subjects," said Malik.
He noted that the forum would facilitate global interaction on a variety of subjects ranging from international and current affairs, globalisation, business and finance, eCommerce, global challenges, media and journalism, entertainment and sports among others."
Malik said that while the inaugural event organised by the forum was a lecture by Cherie Blair, this time the focus was on International Business, E-commerce and Finance.
He added "the UAE in general and Dubai in particular have become a model of success in many areas, particularly business and finance. With the recent opening of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), which is a major milestone for Dubai, we considered it appropriate to hold the seminar at this time."
