The campaign carrying the slogan ‘It is Eid joy, don’t spoil it with an accident’ in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and other western regions will continue till October 16, he said.

The aim of the drive is to create awareness among the public, especially road users, on the importance of abiding by the traffic rules, especially during Eid holidays when roads are likely to witness huge traffic jams.

More traffic cops

More traffic cops have been deployed on the main and side roads as well as at road junctions, traffic lights, markets and shopping malls to ease bottlenecks and handle emergency cases.

As part of the campaign, traffic cops will be distributing around 25,000 greeting cards among motorists and will also be making special pleas to road users to help the police in facilitating smooth flow of traffic.

‘Ideal driver’

An ‘ideal driver’ would be picked everyday during the campaign who would be given a financial reward as a token of appreciation, he said.

The cops would also distribute sweets to the drivers on the roads and streets, he added.
