The seven-month-old pregnant woman came to the hospital’s emergency ward suffering from severe pain and bleeding. Though the doctors tried to delay the birth of the triplets, they had to perform an emergency caesarean operation to save the lives of the mother and her children.

Dr Sameeha Khoory, gynecology specialist in Al Baraha Hospital, said the caesarean section was necessary to keep the three babies and the mother alive. The weight of the babies ranges between 1,200 and 1,300 grams and they will be kept in incubators for six to eight weeks.

Dr Sameeha said the operation is rare due to the triplets and birth of the babies in the 30th week or “seventh month”. This case happens in every 8,000 pregnancy cases, she added.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Obaid Khadeem, director of Al Baraha Hospital, said the mother and her babies are in good health. He also lauded the efforts of the medical team for saving the lives of the mother and her babies.

Al Baraha Hospital is renovating the newborn babies section and also plans to increase the numbers of incubators that are currently available only in the emergency ward.
