Two trailer drivers injured in collision

RAS AL KHAIMAH — Two trailer drivers were seriously injured when the trailers they were driving collided with each other in Al Jazeera area in the afternoon yesterday. One of the trailers overturned and caught fire after the collision.

Both the trailers had RAK number plates.

Hassan Ahmed Al Hussein, a 25-year-old Syrian, was driving the trailer that overturned after being hit from the side by another trailer which was being driven by Jaffer Khan, 37, from Afghanistan.

A senior police officer of RAK Traffic Police, said that Khan, who was driving a heavily loaded trailer, did not pay attention to the traffic flow when he entered the roundabout in Jazeera area while he was heading to Ras Al Khaimah.

He added that the police and Civil Defence teams managed to put out the blaze very fast and rescued the injured driver who was shifted to Saqr Hospital where he is undergoing treatment. Hussein is in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital and doctors said his condition was critical.
