UAE donates $2.1 mln for UN's 2013 activities

The UAE has donated a total of US$2,194000 for the United Nation’s development activities in 2013.

The donation was announced at the 2012 United Nations Pledging Conference for Development Activities, held at the United Nation’s HQ in New York.

US$324000 of the UAE’s donation will go to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), US$200,000.00 to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), US$100,000.00 to the United Nations Children’s Fund “UNICEF” and US$100,000.00 to the Fund to Support Marine Navigation in the Strait of Malacca.

According to the UAE’s statement before the conference, the beneficiary United Nation’s-affiliated funds and programmes are as follows:

  • US$20,000.00 (Twenty thousand US dollars) for Perez-Guerrero Trust Fund for South-South Cooperation (PGTF)
  • US$100,000.00 (One hundred thousand US dollars) for the United Nations Children’s Fund “UNICEF”. -
  • US$10,000.00 (Ten thousand US dollars) for the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). -
  • US$10,000.00 (Ten thousand US dollars) for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). -
  • US$10,000.00 (Ten thousand US dollars) for the United Nations International Drug Control Program Fund. -
  • US$30,000.00 (Thirty thousand US dollars) for the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Fund. -
  • US$10,000.00 (Ten thousand US dollars) for the United Nations Voluntary Fund on Disability. -
  • US$10,000.00 (Ten thousand US dollars) for the United Nations Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture.
  • US$30,000.00 (Thirty thousand US dollars) for the United Nations Trust Fund on Contemporary Forms of slavery. -
  • US$10,000.00 (Ten thousand US dollars) for the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification Trust Fund. -
  • US$324,000.00 (Three hundred twenty four thousand US dollars) for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). -
  • US$70,000.00 (Seventy thousand US dollars) for the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF).
  • US$20,000.00 (Twenty thousand US dollars) for the Trust Fund of the Coordination Office of Emergency Relief Operations. -
  • US$50,000.00 (Fifty thousand US dollars) for the Trust Fund to Support the Activities of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. -
  • US$40,000.00 (Forty thousand US dollars) for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). -
  • US$40,000.00 (Forty thousand US dollars) for the United Nations Trust Fund for the Promotion of South-South Cooperation. -
  • US$100,000.00 (One hundred thousand US dollars) for the Fund to Support Marine Navigation in the Straits of Malacca. -
  • US$100,000.00 (One hundred thousand US dollars) for the International Committee of the International Red Cross. -
  • US$200,000.00 (Two hundred thousand US dollars) for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). -
  • US$10,000.00 (Ten thousand US dollars) for the United Nations Disarmament Research Institute.
  • US$ 1,000,000 (One Million US dollars) for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) – budget 2013.
