Whereas the entire nation was all set on November 3 to celebrate the UAE Flag Day that marks the 12-year accession of Shaikh Khalifa as President, the College of Islamic and Arabic Studies has decided to commemorate the auspicious occasion by hoisting a very big flag on its premises.
The administration, students and employees of the College stood behind their leadership encircling the UAE flag with pride. The College hoisted the UAE flag on the college as urged by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
All the students, administration and employees of the College believe this day to be a symbol of national pride, great love, patriotism and loyalty towards the UAE prudent leadership, according to the Dean Dr Mohammad Abdul Rehman.
"The UAE flag was hoisted atop the college at 11 am while everybody was proudly chanting the national anthem."
Congratulating the UAE leadership and people, Dr Mohammad said the national flag is the most valuable gift they offer to the country. "We should sacrifice our personal interest and all that we possess for the sake of our flag remaining high and proud everywhere."
It is the duty of parents to instill the values of devotion in their children and always remind them that to appreciate the nationwide prosperity, welfare and development, he added.
"This requires us to stand in respect to our flag, keep it resting in our hearts, glorify the unity of our country, and strengthen the deeds of our fathers and grandfathers, by delivering the message in an honest way."
Love and appreciation of our flag is part of love and appreciation for our country, he pointed out. "This love pushes us to instill its meaning in the souls of our children through connecting it to our national identity and enhancing awareness of the history of our country and its achievements throughout eras."
Dr Abdul said the UAE has become a symbol of unity and collaboration by virtue of the tireless efforts of the government here, referring to this occasion as a reflection by all, on ethics and values spearheaded by love and loyalty to the country and its leaders.
"The ceremony concluded after giving oath of loyalty and prayers for the country's martyrs who sacrificed their lives defending the country, its unity, achievement, and future."
