UAE Red Crescent Authority hosts farewell for Iraqi kids

ABU DHABI — The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) organised a farewell in honour of Iraqi children who received medical treatment in the UAE.

In an address on the occasion, Saleh Mohammed Al Mulla, Acting RCA Secretary-General, said the directives of the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to welcome Iraqi children to the UAE and provide them with healthcare was part of the humanitarian initiatives undertaken by the UAE.

He added that Deputy Prime Minister and RCA President Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan was personally following up the condition of the Iraqi patients since the time of their admission to the hospital.

“UAE’s humanitarian initiatives towards Iraqi brethren are nothing more than an answer to the call of duty to protect Iraqis from any potential danger and provide them with decent living,” he said. He said the number of Iraqi children affected by the tragic events in Iraq “is a source of concern.”

The RCA, he affirmed, had mobilised its resources to offer financial, moral and psychological support to the affected children and their families.

Al Mualla presented gifts to the Iraqi children and their accompanying relatives. Basim Shama, head of the delegation of patients, expressed gratitude of the children and their families to Shaikh Khalifa for his generous support.

He also praised the high quality of medical services provided to the patients and thanked the RCA for its contribution.
