The minister told a Press conference that the humanitarian initiative for assisting and relieving countries in times of disasters and calamities underlines the policy adopted by the UAE since it was founded by the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and which “is now being pursued by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. During the fund-raising campaign, each student will donate one dirham in support of Lebanese students. The minister will also launch on Monday another campaign for collecting school bags at the Abu Dhabi Marina Mall. Students will write a message to Lebanese children on ‘My country students’ notebook’, fingerprint it and put it inside the bag. The campaign, which will also be launched at the Deira City Centre and Lulu Centre in Fujairah, will be organised in cooperation with the Red Crescent Society as part of the efforts to reconstruct schools and houses in Lebanon which were destroyed during the Israeli aggression.

“Solidarity with others and showing sympathy with their sufferings put a huge responsibility on us to promote the culture of contact by the government and people of the UAE in humanitarian co-existence with all countries affected by catastrophe, regardless of religious and racial considerations,” the minister added.
