UAE to distribute food parcels to Pak IDPs

ISLAMABAD—The UAE Project to Assist Pakistan (UAE PAP) will distribute 10,000 food packages worth $500,000 to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by military operations in Pakistan, The UAE PAP said in a press release on Saturday that the humanitarian initiative will be carried out in implementation of the UAE President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s instructions to provide those cash-strapped IDPs with food staples so as to alleviate their suffering.

The PAP said a schedule had been drawn to distribute the highly rich nutritional food aid in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and north and south Waziristan within days in coordination with the UAE Red Crescent Authority under the close follow up of its Chairman Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region. The initiative forms the second phase of a RCA-funded aid programme whose first phase saw distribution of 20,000 food parcels to three refugee camps in the during the month of last Ramadan.
