The National Media Council (NMC) is holding a series of meetings with a number of national companies, establishments and institutions to line up their support and participation at the UAE National Pavilion at Expo Zaragoza 2008, which will take place from June 14 to September 14, 2008 under the theme ”Water and Sustainable Development”.
According to the NMC’s supervisory committee, the pavilion will span 580 sq metres. The UAE, which participates in the global water event along with 96 countries, will use the opportunity to further strengthen its credibility as a leader in the field of water and sustainable development.
It will reveal some of the innovative solutions to the age old problem of supplying sufficient water to meet the demands of a burgeoning population and massive urban, economic and industrial expansions.
The pavilion will provide an insight into the UAE’s tireless innovative efforts and experiences to secure water supplies since 2000 years ago up to the present time.
As the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has taken the lead in offering substantial financial contribution to patronize the pavilion, a group of companies, institutions, agencies and funds operating in the field of water, environment, renewable energy, contracting, oil and tourism have shown their good interest to participate in and support the UAE pavilion whose installation is estimated to cost over Dh40 million.
A UAE delegation visited the Spanish city of Zaragoza in July and signed the agreement for the UAE participation in the expo. Organisers expect around 8 million people to visit the Expo Zaragoza 2008.
