UAE, Yemen Join Hands to Conserve Wildlife

AL AIN - The Al Ain Wildlife Park and Resort (AAWLPR) announced on Monday the signing of a partnership agreement with Taiz Zoo in the Republic of Yemen to conserve wildlife.

The agreement was signed in Abu Dhabi by Majid Al Mansouri, managing director of AAWLPR, and Abdul Hakim Mohamed Ahmed Seif, general executive manager of Taiz Zoo.

Majid Al Mansouri said the agreement with Taiz Zoo has been finalised to reinforce AAWPR’s commitment to partnering with conservation organisations both locally
and internationally.

“The agreement includes an animal and plant exchange programme. As part of a major expansion, the AAWLPR is developing a world desert habitat featuring the animals and plants of the Arabian Peninsula,” he added.

Under the agreement, the two sides will work together to develop conservation strategies that are aimed at conserving animals and plants that are inherent in the natural habitats of the UAE and Yemen.

The AAWLPR will offer Taiz Zoo training in the field of plant and animal care, in addition to assistance in horticulture and animal facilities design.

“We are looking forward to working together to achieve our objectives in terms of research and conservation of indigenous wildlife and plant species,” Al Mansouri said.

“The AAWLPR is establishing a number of strategic partnerships with leading conservation agencies, including the San Diego Zoo and the Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden in Miami.”
