The much needed happiness that the Eid Al Fitr celebrations have brought to the communities this year became extra special for parents who welcomed their bundles of joy on this auspicious day in the UAE.
Burjeel Hospital Abu Dhabi marked Eid Al Fitr with the birth of baby just a minute after midnight.
Selim Mohamed Elbasyamy was born at 12.01 am in good health, weighing 2.9kg. Parents Mohamed Elbasyouny and Mai Youssef Awad were overjoyed at their baby being the first one born on this day in the UAE.
“We are blessed to welcome our baby into the world on the first day of Eid Al Fitr. We want to thank Dr Fady and all the nurses at Burjeel Hospital for taking such good care of our family, and for making sure everyone is healthy and fine, and making us feels at home.”
Dr Fady Georges Hachem, consultant, obstetrics and gynecology, at Burjeel Hospital said: “We are so happy to celebrate the birth of a new life on this special day. Babies born on such a significant day bring added joy to our hearts, and give more reason for the family to celebrate. We are glad that the delivery went smoothly and the mother and child in good health.”
The Al Jabri family - Amna Saaed and Ali, the proud Emirati parents welcomed their baby girl early morning at 04:23am as among the first to be born in the early morning of Sunday at NMC Hospital in Al Ain. Her one year old brother Diyab looks adorably at his younger sister as the family is simply overjoyed at their baby.
"People all over the world are celebrating this auspicious day, but for us the happiness has just doubled as we welcome our new baby," Amna, a student of Science with majors in Special Needs at UAE University, said.
Elsewhere in the same hospital, another Emirati couple are brimming with joy with the birth of their baby boy whilst a Jordanian couple alongside of four more families await the good news coming out of the labour rooms.
Welcoming the new arrivals, the hospital staff too expressed their joy in assisting with the deliveries.
Dr. Brinda Lakshminarasimha, consultant - obstetrics and Gynecology at NMC Speciality Hospital, Al Ain expressed her happiness on the birth and said, "We had additional responsibility to not only deliver the baby safely but also undertake mandatory precautions and care owing the Covid-19 pandemic. The new life as much as the lives of the new parents are precious to us and we labored to ensure just that following the global best practices. Eid babies are very special to the families and the hospital staff alike and we are very happy to be part of this happiness journey."
The doting father, Ali Al Jabri who works for the Department of Economy said, "By the grace of Allah, both the mother and baby are healthy and doing good post-delivery. This day will always be memorable for us."
Expressing his happiness, Michael Davis, the CEO of the NMC Health Plc. said, "On this joyous occasion, I wish all the health and happiness to the babies and the parents. The birth of a child is always a reason to celebrate but when it doubles with the auspicious occasion of Eid al Fitr, the happiness certainly knows no bounds. We pray that the babies continue to bring joy and remain a blessing for their families forever".
The family of the newborn had been anxious throughout the last trimester owing to the pandemic but are now relieved and delighted to have delivered safely. The celebrations are cut short, with no visits from the relatives due to covid and yet the families are cooperating respecting the safety guidelines.
NMC said it is planning to welcome over two dozen Eid babies in its global network of hospitals today.
