UAE’s RCA, USA’s ANERA discuss relations

The Red Crescent Authority (RCA), the UAE major aid agency, and the American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA), a leading development organization improving the lives of Palestinian refugees and poor families in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon, today discussed ways to reinforce humanitarian partnership in Palestine and to promote cooperation to help Palestinian refugees.

Discussions took place at a meeting bringing together, from the UAE side, Naeema Al Muhairi, Deputy Secretary General for Relief Affairs and Project, and Dr. Saleh Al Taei, Advisor to RCA Secretary General, Dr Abdul Kareem Bin Si Ali, Advisor on International Relations and from the US side, Bill Corcoran, the President of ANERA.

In remarks at the meeting, Corcoran described RCA’s efforts in the UAE and abroad as signifigant to alleviate suffering and improve the life quality of victims of natural disasters.

He hailed the agency’s diligence in developing underprivileged communities and combating the consequences of poverty, disease, hunger and fatal endemics.

Al Muhairi said RCA offered a total of AED900 million in the past years to fund humanitarian, health and educational projects in Palestine.

ARENA reaches the region’s most vulnerable people with our health, education and economic development programs and provide humanitarian and emergency relief in times of crisis.

With offices in the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon and Jordan, ANERA employs more than 80 full-time staff in the Middle East who are locally hired and work with local partners. ANERA ‘s work is made possible through the support of thousands of private donors around the world and grants from numerous public and private institutions.
