Partakers also put forth recommendations to enhance the educational sector in the UAE.
The event opened up new possibilities of enhancement, driven by technology in the education field.
“The participants got acquainted to the latest technological solutions and programmes that benefit the education system. The recommendations of the forum also showed the interaction between the participants in the workshops and sessions,” said Dr Abdalla Al Amiri, adviser with the Ministry of Education (MoE).
Participants recommended that the MOE provide IT infrastructure and support to education zones, new programmes with reasonable prices and excellent quality, set up new standards and increase the number of teachers’ training programmes.
The importance of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) must be exchanged with regional and international organisations as well as the setting up of local and regional awards to encourage the leading IT projects in teaching and learning was highlighted during the course of the forum. “We had a lot of interest from Arab teachers as well as from representatives of the education ministry — contacts that would have been all but impossible to have made otherwise,” said Dr Anita Stang, CEO of German company MedienLB GmbH, an exhibitor at the show.
“The tremendous support we have been given by the UAE’s Ministry of Education, as well as the encouragement from education ministries from across the Gulf, bodes very well for the future of this show,” said Sue Pothwell, GESS’s Group Event Director.
The GEF-GESS show saw a much greater interest in consolidating technology with local and regional academia with this year’s event attracting 17 per cent more visitors than last year.
The number of exhibitors this year rose by 58 per cent with more countries displaying their products.
