Addressing a Press conference at the Ramada Continental Hotel on Tuesday, the Convener of United Panel for PAD election, Abdul Nabi Bangash said that as per the election schedule for November, the United Panel had decided to provide its services in the interest of the Pakistani community.

“It is a great honour for us that we have representatives from all over Pakistan to achieve a set of goals,” he said.

The United Panel has been protesting against the election schedule set by the present committee since the dates for the elections were pushed further ahead.

“We regret to say that in the past six years, only one group was running the association for its benefits. During the membership campaign, we have been rejected after we asked for cooperation,” said Bangash.

He also accused the present PAD committee of rejecting new membership forms of their group on one pretext or the other.

“When they saw that our group had submitted more forms, they started rejecting them,” he added.

Announcing the panel, Bangash said that the following persons have been nominated for different posts in the PAD elections.

Abdul Sattar Pardesi and Syed Umar Shah have been nominated to contest for the post of president; Mian Munir Hans and Syed Sajad Hussain Shah for the post of vice-president; Khawaja Abdul Waheed Pal and Abdul Ghaffar Khattak for the post of general secretary; Fazal Ghaffar and Haji Nasrat Khan for the post of joint secretary while Ch Faisal and Ch Mohammed Altaf have been nominated to contest for the post of Treasure. Besides, Tauqeer Kiyani and Anees Abdul Sattar will run for the post of community welfare secretary; Mohammed Raees Qureshi and Major (retd) Abdul Basit for public relations secretary; Yousaf Khan Durrani and Ghulam Mustafa for membership secretary; Thomas John and Ch Abdul Hameed for sports secretary; Aurangzeb and Abdullah Khan for religious secretary while Abdul Majeed Mughal and Mustafa Mughal have been nominated to contest for the post of social and cultural secretary.

The panel also outlined the plan of its activities to be carried out in case it got elected.

They said they aimed to restore services for the welfare of Pakistan community, complete the construction work of the multi-purpose hall, introduce minorities in the committee, foster the spirit of mutual understanding and cooperation between the Pakistan community and other communities and manage and try to run community wings under one umbrella of PAD.
