Eight trekkers stranded on the peak of a high mountain in Khor Fakkan have been rescued by the National Search and Rescue Center.
The centre teamed up with the Eastern Region Police, Civil Defence, and Critical Infrastructure and Coastal Protection Authority to carry out the rescue mission.
Sources said the central operations room of the center was alerted that some trekkers have got stuck on the mountains at 9am on Friday.

"The location of the trekkers was identified and a chopper with paramedics and rescue team onboard were immediately dispatched to the reported site."
The rescue chopper and the team managed to airlift three of the eight trekkers who were over exhausted, they added.
"The remaining five trekkers were rescued in cooperation with the Civil Defence and Critical Infrastructure and Coastal Protection Authority."
"All the trekkers were rushed to the Khor Fakkan Hospital for treatment and medical care."
In February this year, the center, with the help of RAK Police, rescued an Emirati trekker stranded on Shaam mountains in Ras Al Khaimah.
The center has urged all mountain trekkers to be extra cautious, particularly while venturing out in the remote ranges.
"It is also important to carry along all the means of communication to alert the police in case of emergency."
"Trekkers need to keep their family informed about the place they venture out," they said. "The public is highly advised to avoid going to the mountains or valleys during showers."
