It only seems like yesterday when work on the Dubai Canal was kicked off. Dubai's latest landmark is now not only one of the newest tourist destinations in town, it has also changed the face of the emirate. One might begin to wonder - how did this engineering marvel come to life so soon? Well, a video shared by Dubai Holding seems to have the answer.
The video shared by Dubai Holding earlier last week starts with a simple question: 'Can the map of a city be changed forever?' In the next two minutes, the story of the Dubai Canal is revealed: From the first digging operation to construction of its massive walls, and the rigorous process through which it took its final shape.
The video also pays homage to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who with his direction turned the dream of building the Dubai Canal into a reality.
It also touches upon the future: what can be expected next for the new destination, which includes the Marasi Business Bay, the UAE's first water homes and floating restaurants, and the region's first yachting destination. If you're already enjoying Dubai Canal, wait until the next phase of development is up. It won't cease to amaze you!
