Philippines' Catriona Gray, who won the Miss Universe 2018 title, revealed in a Twitter video that her dancing caused her $250,000 (Dh900,000 approx) Mikimoto crown to break. Gray confessed that she was so excited during her homecoming parade at the Araneta Center that she could not resist dancing.
The video captioned: 'The moment you've all been waiting for: The Story Behind The Broken Crown' was posted on the Miss Universe official Twitter account. In the video Gray says: "So one of the things I love about the parade is that they have this moving band and they have the drums that makes me want to dance, so I end up dancing although I am not a very good dancer."
According to the Philippine Star, part of the crown broke when Gray decided to dance during her homecoming.

"But I have a confession. The Mikimoto has seen better days as a result of my dancing. I'm so sorry," said the 25-year-old Filipino-Australian as she held a broken piece of the crown.
The Mikimoto crown is made up of 500 diamonds weighing almost 30 carats and 120 South Sea and Ayoka pearls. The Miss Universe Organization assured in another tweet that the crown will be fixed soon.
