Video: Robber's failed, hilarious attempt to run away with jewellery goes viral

He runs towards the exit in a bid to flee with the chain.

A 27-year-old amateur thief in Thailand walked into a jewellery store intending to steal a gold chain but was caught after his shoddy robbery plot went awfully wrong. 
A hilarious CCTV video of the jewellery store doing rounds on social media shows the overly confident thief making a laughing stock of himself. According to local reports quoted by NDTV, the incident took place on November 30 at around 6pm at a jewellery store in Chonburi, Thailand.

The thief identified as Suphachai Panthong is seen in the video footage walking into the store and asking the store owner, Jarae Nitikarun, for a gold chain to buy. He then puts the gold chain around his neck pretending to try it and runs towards the store's glass door in a bid to flee with the chain. 
However, the store owner probably smelt a rat and cleverly locked the door remotely before Panthong could escape with the chain. The hilarious moment Panthong assumed to run away with the chain through the door but realises his how lame his robbery trick was when the door does not open. 
Panthong then hands over the gold chain back to the owner who calls the police. The video ends with Panthong being taken away by police. According to Says.com, he is now in police custody and could face jail term.
In Malaysia last year, robbers left empty-handed after failing to smash open a jewellery case.
