According to the ministry’s records, 174 complaints that its offices in different parts of the country received were regarding unpaid wages.
The disputes received in the Abu Dhabi labour office included 97 complaints on 103 different cases involving 112 labourers. Out of these complaints, 56 were about unpaid salary, 21 related to legal entitlements, 12 were over cancellation of labour contract and 12 pertaining to temporary work permit.
Of them, 22 were resolved, 10 were referred to court and the rest were pending.
In the Dubai office, 162 labourers lodged 124 complaints on 200 matters. Out of them, 58 complaints were about unpaid salary, 66 were related to cancellation of labour contract and 56 were about legal entitlements. Labour officials in Dubai settled 54 complaints, referred 19 to labour court, while the rest were pending.
The Sharjah office registered 50 complaints on 68 cases and involving 54 labourers. Out of them, 24 complaints were related to cancellation of labour contracts, while 16 were over legal entitlements. Of them, 28 were settled, four were referred to the labour court.
The labour office in Al Ain received 39 complaints on 39 different cases that involved 48 labourers. Out of them, 18 were over unpaid salary, nine complaints were related to legal entitlements and eight to cancellation of labour contracts. Out of these, 24 complaints were settled, six were referred to court and the rest were still pending.
Ras Al Khaimah’s labour office received 21 complaints of 27 different cases, involving 27 labourers, of which 12 complaints were over unpaid wages, seven were related to cancellation of labour contract and three were about legal entitlements. While 14 cases were resolved, three were referred to labour court and three were still pending.
In Khorfakkan, three complaints of three different nature were lodged with the labour office out of which one case was over unpaid wages.
The labour office in Ajman received 15 complaints on 19 different cases and including 24 labourers where four cases were settled and three were referred to the labour court.
In Fujairah, seven complaints on eight different cases and involving seven labourers were lodged with the labour office. Out of them, seven complaints were over unpaid dues. Two cases were settled while two were still pending. The labour office in Umm Al Quwain got two complaints involving two labourers, and one case was about unpaid dues.
