More than 1,200 people, including 500 parents, registered for the walk, which started at the school’s campus at 7.30 AM.
Dressed in track suits and jogging shoes, students from Grade VIII-XII joined in, alongside parents on the morning walkathon. The one-hour walk was held at the senior school campus, where the participants took about four rounds.
Sandeep Vishest came with his nine-month old son to take part in the campaign. ‘My cousins’ kids are here and I thought I would join them in the walk,” he said.
“It is a noble cause and that is why I am here. I feel happy to know that the proceeds from the walk will help educate children from other countries,” said parent Murali, adding that the initiative would go a long way in helping children.
A teacher from the school said that as a resident of Dubai and as a teacher, it was imperative that members of the faculty step in to be a part of the cause.
‘Dubai Cares’ was launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide education for children around the globe.
