Warehouse gutted in Fujairah

FUJAIRAH — A massive fire broke out in a warehouse of a company at Al Hail Industrial Area in Fujairah on Sunday. No casualties were reported.

The warehouse was used for storing up plastic, paper and solid materials. Smokes billowed up into the sky and covered the whole area.

Colonel Ali Obaid Al Teneiji, Director of the Fujairah Civil Defence who supervised the fire extinguishing operation, stated that once the operations room of the Civil Defence Department had been reported about the fire at 9.30pm on Sunday, fire fighting teams were rushed to the spot.

Joint teams from the Fujairah Civil Defence and the Fujairah Police along with engines from the Public Works Department managed to smother the fire following great efforts.

“Extreme care was taken to prevent the fire from spreading to the neighbouring establishments,” Al Teneiji said. —salah@khaleejtimes.com
