A 7.1-magnitude earthquake jolted parts of India, Afghanistan and Pakistan on Sunday evening, officials and residents said.

Tremors were felt in the Indian capital and in Kashmir on Sunday, witnesses said, forcing residents to leave homes.

The quake was also felt in Srinagar and elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir besides Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. 

The tremors hit Kabul hard, Xinhua news agency said. 

Pakistani media said the tremors were strongly felt in Lahore and other parts of Punjab province.
The quake struck at a depth of 236 km with epicentre determined in Afghanistan's Hindu Kush region, Dawn online quoted Pakistan Meteorological Department as saying.
There was no word from the Indian meteorological centre about the quake yet. TV stations said there were no reports of any casualties.
Tremors were felt in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Swat Valley, and Chitral. No casualties has been reported yet.
