Shopping for a wedding dress can be both challenging and time consuming, but the 12th annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest spawned a more creative twist to bridal attire with ten contestants flushed with excitement.
The competition, held by Cheap Chic Weddings and six-year sponsor Charmin, featured 10 out of the 1,500 designer candidates who applied. Contestants were only allowed to use toilet paper, glue, tape, and needle and thread.
The winning dress, dubbed Winter Lust, was designed by Brooklyn, New York resident, Van Tran and was inspired by her first snow storm experience. The gown is fitted at the top, and flares out from the knees below for a feather mermaid finish. All over the dress was glitter lace detail to add a winter wedding themed feel.
The dress also included a removable lace cape, and head piece bedazzled with roses, all made with hot glue, glitter glue, duct tape, thread and 10 mega rolls of Charmin Ultra Strong. Tran snagged $10,000 (USD), and an all expense paid trip to any U.S. city with a Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum. The winning dress will be on display at one of "Ripley's Believe it or Not's" global locations.
