Water cooling system for Sharjah buildings

The Sharjah Municipality has asked landlords of new buildings to instal water cooling systems to supply cold water to tenants during the hot summer months, failing which a building licence will not be issued.

Abdul Aziz Al Mansouri, Director of Engineering Department at the municipality, said the civic body has added the new clause to construction conditions to issue permission.

The obligation to instal cooling system for water tanks has become an important condition for a licence. For old buildings, the municipality will encourage landlords to install the system and also cover tanks from the sun rays.

The municipality will soon send circulars to all residential building owners about the new decision which is expected to solve the issue of hot water during summer. The municipality is also planning to conduct inspections in the city to ensure that all buildings have implemented the conditions as per specifications set up by the municipality. Errant landlords will be fined.

He urged landlords to cooperate with the municipality to instal the cooling system.

“The installation of the cooling system and covering of the tanks will not cost much,” he commented.

Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Head of Engineering Department, said the municipality is currently conducting inspections to ensure that landlords are maintaining the front side of their buildings to beautify of the city.
