Al Ahli will play for a win in the crunch Arabian Gulf League match against Al Ain although a draw would suffice to keep the Red Knights ahead in the title race, according to the Dubai club coach Cosmin Olariou.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, the Romanian coach said: "I cannot ask the boys to play for a draw." He further explained that circumstances on the pitch will decide what strategy we should adapt. "We always play to win," he reiterated.
"Everyone knows Al Ain is a strong team with excellent players and a top class trainer," he added.
Al Ahli coach is optimistic about an enjoyable match for fans at home. He also pointed out he had identified problem areas for the team after the last match against Al Jazira, which the Dubai-based club won by the odd goal in three. "Hopefully, we are 100 per cent prepared for the key clash."
He reckons that Al Ain looked in good shape in the last round although Al Nasr snatched a point in a 1-1 draw. "We must give credit to Al Nasr, for playing good football in that match," he said.
Olariou refused to judge Al Ain from their drawn match and feels that Al Ahli and Al Ain matches are always different.
He cautioned that even a victory against Al Ain will not ensure Al Ahli the title. "We must concentrate on the upcoming matches."
"Yes, victory is good and motivates us to further advance, and this is exactly what we are working for to achieve," he said.
