Tears refused to drop from eyes when the news of Hamoud Ali Saleh Al Ameri's heroic demise reached their ears. Not out of shock but in show of respect towards his martyrdom for homeland.
The parents of martyr Al Ameri are sad about the tragic loss of their son, but they are not ready to shed tears and spoil his brave act in Yemen.
The 29-year-old UAE hero succumbed to injuries he received in the battle field, while participating in Saudi-led coalition's Operation Restoring Hope in the Yemeni province of Maareb last month.
He died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Germany.
Nasser Ali, brother of the martyr, told Khaleej Times that his 29-year-old brother, Lt. Hamoud was married and had a daughter and son.
"All family members, including three brothers and two sisters are proud of our brother's sacrifice for the country and nation, and are all ready to complete his sacred mission." Though mother and father are so sad about his loss, they are proud of his martyrdom, he added. "They did not even shed a tear, and asked the martyr's brothers to be part of the operation there in Yemen." Mohammed Nasser Eid, cousin of the martyr, said Hamoud was a brave man."
He was so kind to everyone, and ready to give hand to anyone in need for help." Eid told Khaleej Times that the martyr was receiving treatment for about one month and a half at a hospital in Germany. "He was struck with shrapnel and was suffering excessive burns." Two weeks ago, his condition turned unstable, and he finally could not make it, he added.
Mohammed Ahmed Al Ameri, cousin of the martyr, said all family members are proud of him and that one among them is a martyr. "It is not an easy job. Not anyone can be a martyr, and hence we all wish to sacrifice our blood for our beloved country." The martyr loved and cared for his parents so much, he added.
"He was always in touch with family members and relatives, and never hesitates to help anyone in need. We will really miss him, but we all are ready to complete his mission."
