The accident between the school bus and the water tanker in Dubai early on Monday morning took place because of lack of adequate distance between the two vehicles, a senior Dubai Police official said on Monday.
The accident had left 15 students, three supervisors and the tanker driver injured. All students, except for one, have since been discharged from Rashid Hospital, where they had been rushed.
Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, director-general of the Dubai Police's traffic department, said that preliminary information revealed that the lack of distance between the vehicles caused the accident. It is a dangerous traffic violation that always results in major accidents, he noted.
Al Mazrouei added that an investigation is being carried out to unravel further details.
