A 34 year-old-Egyptian woman died on spot after being run over by speeding car at King Abdul-Aziz road in Al Qasimiya area of Sharjah.
The woman had shopped at Bein Al Qasrain outlet for gifts and was trying to cross the road when she was hit by a speedy vehicle driven by an Arab driver.
The police received call at 3:30 pm at the operation room which dispatched the patrol and traffic expert who arrived in the site of the accident where they found the woman already passed away.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Al Kuwaiti hospital morgue and the patrol cleared the road for congested traffic.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, residents of the area who gathered at the scene said the road is very dangerous and unsafe. They stated that it lacks zebra crossing despite being one of the vital roads in the city. Such accidents are not uncommon on the road, they added.
The residents urged the concerned authorities to take action and solve the issue as soon as possible to stop the death among pedestrians.
