Women's achievements were lauded by the Rulers of the UAE on the occasion of International Women's Day on Thursday.
The role of women in government was highlighted by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who tweeted that they make up 70 per cent of his team.
"Seventy per cent of my work team is comprised of women. I thank them on this and every day for their efforts. Without them we would not be where we are today. I hope every minister and government official celebrate their efforts. With you, the UAE grows in strength and greatness."
We celebrate women in the UAE as nurturers of our future generations, partners in development and change-makers. I hope you grow every year in strength, radiant beauty, and generosity, he said.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, said women are the heart of the nation.
"Women's Day is a global occasion to reaffirm the special status of women in our homeland. Women are the heart of our nation, mothers to our martyrs and partners in our development.
"Their notable presence strengthens our march towards development and a prosperous future," Sheikh Mohamed tweeted.
