Xpress Money has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with international NGO Sightsavers Middle East, which works to prevent blindness, restore sight and advocates social inclusion and equal rights for people with disabilities in developing countries, to help in projects in Ghana and Tanzania, the company said in a Press release.
In Ghana, the ambit of activities includes tutoring 51 blind and partially-impaired people and training tutors of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) centres to hone their skills and get advanced training.
Xpress Money will also donate computer and assistive technology devices that the visually-impaired community can use to their advantage.
In Tanzania, the focus will be on empowering teachers to enhance their Braille skills and also provide them with new teaching and learning materials. The MoU was signed at the Xpress Money office in Abu Dhabi, between Vinesh Nair, vice-president, Global MarComm & CSR, Xpress Money and Abdulla bin Jassim Al Nuaimi, director-general, Sightsavers Middle East.
