Yas Island is ready to welcome the winter season with first ever month-long festivities filled with family-friendly events that run till January 7.
The jamboree rolls with Yas Marina's 'Let It Snow', Ferrari World Abu Dhabi's 'Winterfest', du Forum's 'Winterland Carnival' and Yas Mall's 'Festive Fantasia'.
Yas Marina's will host a tree lighting ceremony. The seven restaurants and lounges will be offering weekly and festive promotions. There will be a Yukigassen game - real snow battle for visitors. There is also a winter market with local retailers.
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will start its fourth 'Winterfest' from December 16 to January 7. The celebrations start with solo performance by Emirati ice skating princess Zahra Lari at the Park's own rink. Other attractions are Bjorn the animatronic polar bear show, tree lighting ceremony, a gigantic snow slide, snow-play pit stop area and much more.
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi general manager Jesse Vargas said: "The presence of Zahra Lari will make this year's 'Winterfest' celebrations even more memorable."
The du Forum will welcome visitors to the first 'Winterland Carnival' to be held from December 27 to 31. There will be a snow park featuring an ice slide, snowball fights, snowmen, a magical forest and more.
Yas Mall adds festive cheer with 'Festive Fantasia' from December 16 to 26. There will be daily line-up of live entertainment and acrobatic performances. Also, the mall will have Snow Fight Zone.
Yas Island is going to light up the New Year too. There are spectacular midnight fireworks shows at both du Arena and on the South part of Yas Island, near the du Forum at midnight on December 31.
Also, Coldplay's sold-out New Year's Eve 'A Head Full of Dreams' show by du live! will ensure a rocking walk into 2017. Yas Mall will also feature performances and international acts - 'Evolution of Dance'. The event will start from 5pm and wind up by 1am.
Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority director general Saif Saeed Ghobash said such festivals will bring in more tourists.
"Abu Dhabi is a leading family leisure destination full of captivating experiences, and the addition of these festive offers and activities across Yas Island provides even more compelling reasons for visitors to enjoy the emirate's year-round appeal."
