You are the future, Sharjah Ruler tells AUS graduates

SHARJAH - His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, attended the Spring 2012 American University of Sharjah (AUS) graduation ceremony on Saturday at the University City Hall.

Dr Shaikh Sultan congratulated all the graduates, wishing them a successful journey in their lives ahead. He mentioned the endless achievements the AUS acknowledged during the year, from hosting international conferences and events at the university, and receiving accreditation for being the best university in master degree in business and administration in the Gulf Region.

Dr Shaikh Sultan said: “You are the model of the educated youth of this generation. You are equipped with the best of knowledge. You are our real fortune and our future. You will be turning the wheel of our future developments. I urge you to bear this responsibility with honesty and integrity, and to build upon and preserve the achievements of those who graduated before you.”

AUS Chancellor Dr Peter Heath told the graduating class that they were now ready to move to the next stage of their lives, to begin a new journey of discovery. “It may well be difficult for many of you to imagine how your journey will progress. I know that some of you will follow paths that you have already long considered and worked hard to prepare. For others of you, the paths that life opens up are yet to be defined. Whatever you end up doing, I hope that you pursue your activities with ambition, with passion, and with a keen sense of adventure,” he said. “Wherever your dreams or aspirations may lead you, rest assured that your university will follow your lives and your careers with great interest. From the AUS Alumni Association, you will find support both from your fellow graduates and from your university,” said Dr Heath.

Ameenah Elbarrani, who majored in International Relations, said it was one of the most important days of her life.

Mohammed Nabeel Ammar, engineering graduate, said: “Today marks a new chapter in my life. I will begin my journey as an engineer in field and far away from tough exams and courses.” Noor Abdullah, Journalism Graduate, said: “AUS is a memory that will not be forgotten. I know I had tough days with studying and assignments, yet I will never forget those days. Finally, now I can rest, start my career and enjoy a different angle in my life.”
