ABU DHABI —In a step anticipated to augment job opportunities for UAE nationals in international organisations, Zayed University (ZU) and the UNDP have signed an agreement under which 22 students and two tutors from the university will get acquainted with various international organisations’ functional systems.
The pact was signed yesterday at ZU campus in Abu Dhabi between Dr Hanif Hassan Al Qassimi, Vice Chancellor of Zayed University and Nadir Haj Hammou, UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident
The one-week training programme, which is offered by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (Unitar) will be conducted from July 4 in Switzerland is designed to suit the interests of university students in the area of multilateral diplomacy and international cooperation. The course is scheduled to provide ZU students with a comprehensive prelude on the systems and work of different Geneva-based United Nations and affiliated international organisations.
"The agreement represents the new strategy Zayed University has took up concerning its intership programmes, whereby ZU has adopted new initiatives regarding its academic programmes that embodies extending its training courses to international diplomatic bodies", commented Dr Qassimi.
