The police arrested a 38-year-old woman on Saturday, October 15, for brutally murdering her adoptive mother. The dead body of the 75-year-old woman was found at her home in southeast Bengaluru, according to a Times of India report.
The convict was Chandramma, whose victim was her adoptive mother, Muniyamma, a resident of Sarjapur's Kote Street.
According to the Sarjapur police, on Saturday morning, Muniyamma's son Srinivas had come to the former's residence to take their pet for a morning walk. He found Chandramma there and asked her about his mother.
She informed him that some people had forcibly entered the house at night and violently hacked his mother to death.
The police were informed about the incident and rushed to the spot. The initial investigation showed that Muniyamma had been hit with a machete on the left side of her head.
Police suspect the old victim might have been killed while asleep, and Chandramma's involvement was also suspected. Upon questioning, she confessed to killing Muniyamma after an initial protest claiming to be innocent, according to Superintendent of Police (Bengaluru Rural) Mallikarjun Baladandi.
The police will investigate further to understand her exact motives for killing her mother.
