Days after a Pakistani International Airlines (PIA) pilot was recorded sleeping on a flight - giving the controls of the plane to a trainee - another PIA pilot has landed in soup after allowing a Chinese woman into the cockpit during a flight.
According to media reports, a PIA pilot has been accused of endangering the lives of his passengers and breaching security after he allowed an unauthorised Chinese woman passenger into the cockpit.
The pilot, identified as Captain Shahzad Aziz, invited the young woman on PIA flight PK-853 from Tokyo to Beijing earlier this week into the cockpit, according to a Geo News correspondent - who was flying on the same plane.
The woman reportedly stayed in the cockpit with the pilot and first officer for over two hours. She was seen leaving the cockpit after the plane landed, according to a video clip recorded by the correspondent on his mobile phone. The video has since gone viral on social media.
At one point during the two hours, the woman was in the cockpit alone with just the pilot, Geo News reported.
On being enquired by the reporter, whether if she knew the pilot, the young woman declined to comment.
PIA said it was trying to get in touch with the flight crew over the reported incident.
According to law, unauthorised persons are not allowed into the cockpit at any time during flights as it is a safety hazard, with the responsibility lying with the pilot to ensure that no unauthorised person enters the restricted part of the aircraft.
This is not the first time that such an incident has occurred on a PIA flight.
