Japanese automaker Nissan has announced a major recall of its Urvan vehicle in the UAE due to technical issues.
The company said 16,365 vehicles would be recalled after an abnormal noise from the engine room and warning lamp were detected during driving. In sever conditions, the power steering bracket could be broken and the steering becomes heavy.
Among the recalled vehicles are those which were manufactured between 2012 to 2018 and sold in the UAE by Nissan distributors Arabian Automobiles and Al-Masaood Automobiles.
"Nissan has decided to check and replace the necessary parts with new ones at no cost to the customers. In the interest of delivering the highest quality of customer care from Nissan, the distributors will contact customers with affected models to inform them about the situation and update them on next steps," reads the statement.
On Monday, Nissan also announced appointments of Joni Paiva as regional vice president for marketing and sales for Africa, Middle East and India, and Thierry Sabbagh as managing director of Nissan Middle East.
