Here's an obvious fact: Dubai LOVES cars. The city is filled with motorists driving anything from a humble Honda to an ostentatious, gold-plated Maybach. In general, motorists here opt for the fastest car. They want the car with the biggest engine and has x amount of horsepower so they can cruise down Jumeirah on Fridays - like this:
If you're looking for those fast cars, look away right now. Here are 10 cars that were designed to get you to your office around the corner in an hour or two - even more than.

Mitsubishi i-Miev

Achieving 0-60mph in 13.4 seconds, the i-Miev is not that bad for a compact electric car. It can also reach a top speed of 80mph. If owning a Tesla in the UAE is a pipe dream, this could be the answer. It's not a Lancer by any measure, but hey, less petrol bills!

Fiat Qubo Natural Power 1.4

This Fiat has a humongous bumper for some undiscovered reason. Achieving 0-60 within 17.7 seconds, this is NOT the car you'll want when you drive from Dubai to Abu Dhabi.

Smart CDI

Despite being a brand under Mercedes, the Smart CDI can hit 60mph only after 19.5 seconds. These cars can be seen around Dubai in extremely rare instances.

Chevrolet CMV

It's a party truck! Or road trip van. It can reach 0-60 within 27 seconds WITHOUT any payload. But who needs fast when you've got your friends in the backseat ?

Hindustan Ambassador 1.5 DSZ

Ah, a classic of Indian culture. The Ambassador carries with it prestige and legacy; the weight of which only allows the car to hit 0-60 after 28 seconds. But hey, it's a classic.

Tata Nano

Touted as one of the world's cheapest cars, it's also one of the slowest. After all, they had to cut back on something to make the car look so "good". Maybe its faster being pushed?

MIA Electric Car

One could easily point out that MIA could imply this car's incapability to go fast. The central seat brings back memories of the McLaren F1 so maybe you could imagine that you're in a McLaren instead of this electric car. Oh, it'll also take you half a minute to get it moving.

Renault Twizy

If you've been around The Mall along Jumeirah Beach Road then you've probably seen a Twizy. It's a compact electric car that looks cool and handles really well. But despite looking as sleek as a Lamborghini, it won't be as fast as one. So don't even think of revving this one on Friday cruises.

Aixam Coupe

Would you like to be safe from speeding vehicles? Would you also like a car where you won't need a driver's license? If you said yes to those then meet the Aixam Coupe, a car that is so slow you'll never get fined for speeding. ever.

Peel P50

The slowest of the bunch is the Peel P50. Named by Guinness World Records as the smallest car, the P50 can reach a top speed of 35mph. If Dubai's summer is too much for you to actually walk - this car will fulfill your dreams. The Top Gear team even drove it INSIDE their offices!
