IT system snags, altercations with passengers and so on. Despite a slew of raging rows of late, the aviation sector will continue to boom in the next 20 years.
By 2035, 7.2 billion passengers will travel by air - double than the current 3.7 billion. Around 50 per cent of this growth will be driven by APAC or Asia Pacific. The major chunk of the air passengers will come from China, US, India, Indonesia and Vietnam.
Qantas has strongest home reputation
Qantas Airways of Australia has the strongest reputation in the home market, according to a recent survey by RepTrak. It was followed by Air New Zealand and Norwegian. For the entire list, please see this link.
A home market reputation is a pre-requisite for building reputations abroad. It not only drives travellers to opt for the airline, but also helps build advocacy. A good reputation at home is crucial, but in this globalized industry one has to keep innovating new ways to stay ahead. Stakeholders always monitor and scrutinize the players in the aviation industry. Every airline has to go through incisive scrutiny to find favour with the stakeholders.
The airlines will have to devise plans to create a reputation that wins a larger share of this expanding market. High familiarity doesn't mean good reputation, though. The product, price and service have been at the core of the reputation of an airline in the industry. However, the RepTrak research shows that "it is becoming increasingly important to communicate the company behind the products to build long term advocacy among clients and influencers".
