Flydubai on Wednesday announced that it would delay the launch of its Budapest flight due to continued grounding of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
The budget carrier advised passengers who had booked their tickets to either rebook to another destination or fly with Emirates. They can also claim refund.
"With the continued grounding of our MAX aircraft, flydubai has made the decision to delay the launch of its flights to Budapest which were scheduled to begin on October 1, 2019. Passengers who have purchased tickets for travel between Dubai and Budapest are advised to contact their travel agent or the flydubai customer centre in Dubai on (+971) 600 54 44 45," a flydubai spokesperson said in a statement.
In December 2018, flydubai had announced daily flights to Budapest in Hungary from June 27, 2019.
It said those who passengers who had already booked on its Budapest flight have the option to be transferred to an Emirates flight closest to their current travel dates, subject to availability.
Passengers can choose to travel to another flydubai destination closest to their current travel dates.
The airline said that refund on the original form of payment will take between 5 to 7 weeks to be processed and a refund to flydubai voucher will take between 1 to 2 weeks.
Boeing 737 MAX aircraft was grounded across the globe in March 2019 after two newly-delivered planes crashed within a span of five months, resulting in a death of 346 people. The aircraft manufacturer suspended deliveries and reduced production of the aircraft.
Boeing and airlines are waiting for the fixes and regulatory approval before the MAX can take off again.
