A Qantas flight between Dubai and Melbourne, Australia, was forced to divert because of mechanical problems on Monday.

In a statement, Qantas noted that the Airbus A380 - QF10 - was required to divert to Changi Airport in Singapore "due to a mechanical fault."

"The fault occurred about three hours into the flight," the statement said. "The aircraft is expected to return to service tomorrow."

"Customers on the flight will be booked on the next available service to their destination or provided overnight accommodation," the statement added. "We sincerely thank our customers for their patience and understanding."
