Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways has announced a new partnership with Italian luxury brand Armani Casa to offer world-class amenities on the national airline’s business class.
Tony Douglas, group CEO, Etihad Airways, said the partnership marked a new chapter in the airline’s journey.
“This is an incredible partnership. They are world famous for an eye for details and incredible touch for details,” he said during the launch event held at W Hotel on Yas Island.
The partnership will take to the skies in December. Etihad offerings will be exclusively designed with celebrated designer Giorgio Armani.
Douglas termed the collaboration as “The Constellation Collection” inspired by the stars. Promising a “beyond business” experience, the collection will include a new dining service featuring ceramics, glassware, cutlery and serving ware, as well as premium textiles for a completely luxurious inflight experience.
The dining service features refined silhouettes with elevated contemporary finishes, mixed materials and embossed patterns. The use of multiple textures represents the cultural diversity of the UAE. The colour palette reflects the surroundings of Abu Dhabi; dark green inspired by the region’s date palm trees, aquamarine representing the beauty of the mangroves and slate to symbolise the modernity of the iconic Abu Dhabi skyline.
Douglas pointed out the new experience will be “defined by Emirati heritage” and shaped by a “clear vision for future”.
Fabrice Gouffran, group division director Armani Casa, Armani Hotels, travel retail, said it was the group’s first-ever experience into aviation.
“I hope you will enjoy flying in an elevated business class experience,” he noted.
Meanwhile, the collection is designed in line with the airline’s commitment to sustainability. Durable, high-quality material and innovative designs have reduced equipment weight by up to 10 per cent, resulting in less fuel burn and fewer emissions.
The sitting and sleeping experience will be enhanced with the premium textiles range, matching pillowcase and duvet set. Also, guests on longer flights will benefit from the airline’s new innovative memory foam mattress, providing additional comfort to the fully-flat bed in business.
