Dubai - Midfield Terminal is expected to welcome flyers by December 2017

Development on Abu Dhabi Airport's Midfield Terminal is coming along nicely. To showcase the advancements and progress of the terminal, they posted an animated image that exhibits how the airport has changed and how it looks now:

Once completed, Midfield Terminal will be the largest airport in Abu Dhabi which will be visible from 1.5km away. The airport is slated to open December next year and will support the expanding fleet of Etihad Airways.
Midfield Terminal is expected to house the best in terms of technology and comfort for flyers with 27km long baggage handling capable of processing 19,000 bags per hour; a 3-star transit hotel with 163 rooms; a 30,000 sqm airline lounges area; 45-minute connection time including baggage transfer; 165 check-in counters coupled with 48 self-service kiosks and a total of almost 5,000 parking spaces with 1,500 allocated for long term and 3,400 for short term.
Midfield Terminal is seen to handle a total of 30 million passengers per year and 8,500 passengers per hour.
