An Emirates flight from Trivandrum to Dubai -- flight EK521 -- has made an emergency landing in Dubai.

Dubai Health Authority has said that Rashid Hospital was ready to treat the injured; 37 beds were prepared for trauma cases, 88 for critical and 166 beds prepared for stable cases.

Realtime flight tracking website FlightRadar24 identifies the aircraft as a Boeing 777-31h delivered to Emirates in March 2003.

According to the website, it also flew the Dubai-Trivandrum route (EK520) which had landed there at 4:08am without incident.

Flight records from the website also indicate the plane flew a number of routes in the days preceding the incident, including flights between Dubai and Tunis and between Tunis and Luqa (Malta) on August 2nd, and between Dubai and Abuja and back on August 1st.

Flights diverted:
FlightRadar24 also noted that a number of inbound flights were diverted to Dubai World Central airport, including Emirates flights EK796 from Seychelles International Airport, EK565 from Bangalore, EK531 from Cochin, and EK425 from Perth.
Another inbound Emirates flight - EK651 from Colombo - was diverted to Fujairah, while EK345 from Kuala Lampur was diverted to Al Ain.
FlyDubai flights that were diverted included Fz334 from Karachi, FZ56 from Kuwait City, , FZ222 from Najaf and FZ38 from Muscat.
A Qatar Airways flight, QR1010 from Doha, was cancelled.
Air India flights will depart from Sharjah.
Earlier, passengers in the airport and those present at the site of the incident, took to Twitter to post photos and videos of the burning plane - as smoke filled up the sky.
Operations suspended at Dubai airport
Dubai Airports can confirm that all operations (arrivals and departures) at Dubai International have been suspended until further notice following the incident this afternoon involving Emirates airline flight EK521.
Dubai Airports will issue an update on the status of operations at DXB at 5pm, according to a spokesperson.

Emirates can confirm that today, 3rd August 2016, flight EK521 travelling from Trivandrum International Airport in Thiruvananthapuram, India to Dubai has been involved in an accident at Dubai International Airport. There were 275 passengers and crew on board. The Boeing 777 aircraft, departed at 10.19am from Trivandrum International Airport and was scheduled to land at 12.50pm at Dubai International Airport.
